At Secret Place, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and services—including prayer journaling, Bible study and Bible chat, and optional screen-time features where you earn minutes for engaging with spiritual activities.
No Cloud Storage of Your Sessions—Content Stays on Your Device
Secret Place is designed with privacy at its core. Your prayers, Bible chat sessions, Bible study sessions, and related journal content are stored locally on your device, not in a personal cloud library we can read. We do not store that content on our servers for retrieval. It does not leave your device except when you explicitly export it (for example, CSV export for prayers where available) or when limited data is sent temporarily for features described below (such as voice transcription or AI processing), after which only the results you save are kept locally.
Screen-time preferences, earned-minute balances, and similar state are held in the app on your device as part of local app data—not as a cloud backup of your spiritual content.
Important: Because this content is local and not synced to our cloud for you to download later, you should use export features where offered and your own device backups. If you replace your phone or delete the app or your account without backing up, that data may be permanently lost.

When you use voice recording or features that send text or audio to our backend for AI assistance (for example, prayer transcription, Bible chat, or study helpers), that content may be temporarily processed by third-party AI services to generate a response or transcript. Transmission for processing is ephemeral in the sense described below; what you choose to save in the app stays on your device afterward.
For typical voice-to-prayer flows, your audio may be processed by services such as OpenAI's transcription APIs. This process is ephemeral, meaning your audio is processed and not retained for our long-term storage:
According to OpenAI's data usage policies, audio sent to their API for transcription is not used to train their models and is not retained after processing in the manner described in their policies. The transcription happens in real-time and your audio passes through their systems only temporarily—it is ephemeral. For Bible chat or similar features, follow in-app disclosures; session transcripts you keep are stored on your device as described in Section 4. If you prefer to limit third-party processing, use non-voice input where the app allows it.
Key Point: Ephemeral Processing
"Ephemeral" means temporary and short-lived. Your audio exists on third-party servers only for the few seconds it takes to transcribe it, then it's permanently deleted. The transcribed text returns to your phone and is stored locally—never in the cloud.
Local Storage for Your Spiritual Content (No Personal Cloud Library): Your saved prayers, chats, Bible study sessions, and related content are stored exclusively on your device using secure storage mechanisms provided by your device's operating system. We do not maintain a cloud copy of your session content for you to log in and download later. Account identifiers and service metadata may exist on our systems as described in Section 1.2, but not your full prayer or chat archive.

Critical: No Cloud Backup Means You Must Export
Unlike apps that sync a full personal archive to the cloud, Secret Place keeps your spiritual session content on the device. When you get a new phone, that history does not automatically transfer. Use export and your own backup strategy, or expect potential permanent loss when you switch devices, delete your account, or remove the app.
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share limited information only in these circumstances:

We retain account-related information (such as email and authentication records) for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize associated server-side records within a reasonable period (for example, within 30 days), except where retention is required by law.
Your prayers, Bible chats, Bible study sessions, and other spiritual content are ephemeral from our infrastructure perspective: we do not keep a cloud copy. That content lives on your device until you delete it, delete your account through the app (which removes local app data tied to the account), or uninstall the app. After account deletion or uninstall, we have no copy to restore.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy within the app, sending an email notification, or through other appropriate means. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
